Why Paying staff Properly is the Most Important Thing We Do

Why Paying Care Staff Properly Is the Most Important Thing We Do At All About Home Care, we commit to paying our staff the best rates in the local area — because it is what they deserve. Care work is one of the most important and demanding jobs there is, and carers’ pay should reflect that.

“Our mantra at All About Home Care is that we provide care to our clients as if they are our own family. That belief does not stop at the care itself — it extends to every decision we make about how we run this business.” — Jim, Co-owner, All About Home Care

It is personal

For Jim, our co-owner, this commitment to paying staff what they deserve is rooted in his own personal experience. Jim’s son Hugo has a disability that requires 24-hour care. From the very beginning, Jim understood first-hand what it means to place your complete trust in another person to look after someone you love most.

When Hugo first began receiving care, Jim felt the rate paid by the local authority to his son’s carer simply was not good enough — not a true reflection of her skill, dedication, and compassion. So he made the decision to increase her wage out of his own pocket, because he wanted her to feel valued and to stay. Four years on, Hugo still has the same carer and continues to receive the exceptional quality of care he deserves. That continuity is not a coincidence. It is the direct result of treating a carer as the vital professional she is.

That experience shaped everything about how we run All About Home Care.

The result: carer consistency and carer well-being

Too many providers in this industry pay their staff minimum wage. The consequences are predictable: high staff turnover, inconsistency in care, and carers who feel undervalued and burnt out. Families are left with a revolving door of unfamiliar faces, and the quality of care suffers as a result.

At All About Home Care, we choose to do the opposite. We want to hire and retain the very best care staff in the area. We pay industry-leading rates, offer excellent training and benefits, and work every day to make sure our team feel genuinely valued. Because a carer who feels respected and fairly rewarded brings something to their work that simply cannot be manufactured — a warmth, a consistency, and a level of commitment that families feel from the very first visit.
