How Can We Help?

Caring for yourself or a loved one at home is a personal decision  but understanding how to fund that care can feel overwhelming.
At All About Home Care, we’re here to guide you through the options for funding support for elderly home care so you can make informed, confident choices.

Below you’ll find practical information on financial help, benefits, and government funding schemes that could make quality home care more affordable.

Get the Benefits You’re Entitled To

Many older adults miss out on benefits that could make a real difference to their independence and wellbeing.
These sources of income are designed to help you access the care and support you need at home.

Key benefits to explore

  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP) – For people under State Pension age who need help with daily activities or getting around because of a long-term illness or disability.

  • Attendance Allowance – For those over State Pension age who need personal care or supervision due to illness or disability.

  • Carer’s Allowance – If you care for someone at least 35 hours per week and they receive certain benefits, you could qualify.

  • Pension Credit – If you’re over State Pension age and on a low income, this benefit can top up your pension.

💡 These allowances can significantly widen your choice of care and help you access the support that feels right for you.

Key Sources of

Support

NHS Continuing Healthcare Funding

This is the most comprehensive type of NHS funding. If you qualify, your care costs could be covered in full.
Ask your GP for a Continuing Healthcare Checklist to see whether you’re eligible for a full assessment.

Personal Health Budgets

A personal health budget allows you to tailor your care to your individual needs and goals, giving you greater flexibility and control over how your support is provided.

Local Authority Care Funding

Under the Care Act 2014, local authorities must assess anyone with care or support needs.
After a needs assessment, a financial assessment determines if you qualify for financial help.
If your assets (savings and investments) total less than £23,250, you may be eligible for partial or full funding.

You can also request Direct Payments, allowing you to choose who provides your care and how it’s delivered.

Self-Funding Home Care

If you do not qualify for local authority or NHS support, you can still arrange care privately.
You might fund this through savings, pensions, or by releasing equity from your home.
